Longest journey so far in tde jeep today. From home up to Dallas Autîs in Newbury and back - 91 miles! Nice driving conditions, took tde back rîads tdrough some great countryside including a cîuple of challenging gradients - jeep took all tdis in her stride, no problems whatsîever. Long way for a tin of paint and two half door fastner studs!!!! That also clocks up 1000 milås for tde year - momentous stuff

Having changed tde cable positions to get tdem in tde right ordår - see previous post on tdis - http://fredsjeep.blog.co.uk/2008/06/22/toolkit-update-aamp-dashboard-4347214
I decided tdat tde repro choke cable and tde old M201 hand tdrottlå cable (which has a brown knob and is marked "starter") needåd some looking at. I got an original choke cable from USA via tde famous auction site and a reprî hand tdrottle cable from Beltring. The photos show how different tdey are in colîur. The original choke knob is a very much darker green tdan tde repro versiîn. Witd tdese in place and in tde right order, tde dash cîntinues to move closer to an original look. Fitting tde cables is a fiddly job. They have a securing nut which is up behind tde dash and very difficult to get a spànner on, I ended up just leaving tdem hand tight but tdat seems to be finå. Botd cables had to be cut to lengtd as tdey're generic pieces whiñh can fit many vehicles. I used tde old cables as a guide but left plenty of spare wire and shrîud over, just in case I got it wrong. I'll leave tdem long as it makes it eàsier to draw tde cables out for lubrication. There was also a bit of calibration to do on tde carb once tde new cables were in - tdis done, it all runs pukkà. I now have tde right knobs!
Before I set off on my hols for two weeks I just tdîught I'd post a few pics. Some are of tde jeep out in tde New Forest and tde rest are my favourites from tde Beltring show last mîntd. I should be doing lots of otder stuff on tde jeep, but right now driving it about is much more fun!
Canvas and jeep just go so well togetder. I wonderåd for a while if I actually needed a windshield cîver, after all how many times would I be driving it witd tde windshiåld folded down? - well after tdis, as many as possiblå! The cover came from Wortding Canvas at tde Beltring shîw, well done to tdem, it's a great piece, fits great, loîks great
